OVERVIEW OF THE DEPARTMENT

The Department of English was introduced since the inception of the college way back in 2005. Since then, a good number of teachers have contributed to the stock of knowledge and the overall growth of the department imparting lessons to the learners over the years. The department ran full-fledged three-year English (Honours) Degree Course from 2005-2006 session onwards. In recent years, the department started following CBCS course structure and End-Semester evaluation pattern w.e.f. 2018-2019 academic session as per UGC guidelines and CCFUP-NEP course structure from 2023-2024 session onwards.
The department aims at providing extensive knowledge of literary history, literary theory and form, and a wide variety of interest to delve deep into creative gusto and literary taste. The department facilitates the students to explore identity, values, manners and morals. The holistic development of the students remains a key objective of the department adopting the pedagogy of blended learning, academic counselling, monitoring and mentoring. The departmental wall magazine entitled&nbsp;FABUNIUS&nbsp;plays pivotal role in shaping the artistic veins and creative urges of the students. Moreover, the educational tour carried out by the department ensures experiential learning directed of the students thereby developing in them practical wisdom and critical thinking.&nbsp;
Apart from the academic activities the department also organizes various programmes and encourages the students to participate in many activities like quiz competitions and different cultural programmes to help build up their morale and boost their confidence.&nbsp;
